Mr. Sterk was the son of George and Mary (Majerly) Sterk. A Janesville resident for most of his life, he married Charlotte E. Simmons on April 2, 1932, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville. He later married Marguerite Rauland on August 17, 1979, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rudy had been employed by the Bennison and Lane Bakery for 25 years and Railway Express for 25 years, retiring on April 25, 1975. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Janesville Conservation Club, where he was one of the founders and first president from which he received a citation and a lifetime membership from the National Wildlife Association. He was a lifetime member and a founding supporter of the Rock Aqua Jays Waterskiing Team, life member of the National Rifle Association, and the Rock County Humane Society where he received citations from the Wisconsin and National Humane Society Organizations, and conducted 25 years of dog obedience classes. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Elks Club #254 since 1978, Westby Rod and Gun Club, and founder of Sportsman Park in Janesville.
