John F. “Jack” Doheny, age 86, of Janesville, died Thurs., Dec. 15, 2005, at Cedar Crest. He was born in Janesville on March 5, 1919, the son of Charles and Genevieve (McGinnity) Doheny, attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Janesville High School in 1937. He married Marguerite Skelly on Aug. 17, 1940, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Janesville. She preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 2001. Jack served in the US Army with the 45th Infantry during WWII. He was among the first men of the Liberation Troops who stormed the German Prison Camp at Dachau to free the prisoners. He had been employed at Parker Pen Company for 45 years and retired as a supervisor over 20 years ago. Jack enjoyed music and was active in Barbershop Singing. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Mike (Eileen) Doheny of Arlington, VA; son-in-law, Mike Coffey of Janesville; 7 grandchildren: Kevin, Craig, and Nick Doheny, Sean, Ryan, and Aaron Coffey, and Karen Smith; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Fr. Tom Doheny of Bonita Springs, FL; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Patrick; daughter, Joyce Coffey; 2 brothers, Charles and Fr. James Doheny; and 2 sisters, Anna Marie Kressin and Kathleen Burg.
