Shirley A. Emond, age 80, longtime Mishicot resident, died unexpectedly Monday night, June 19, 2017 following complications from surgery at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.
Shirley was born August 30, 1936 in the town of Cato, daughter of the late Frank and Johanna (Pieschl) Strauss. She attended St. Mary's Catholic grade school in Clarks Mills and graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1954. On June 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to Douglas Emond at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The couple would have celebrated 58 years of marriage this coming Tuesday.

Shirley was retired from Federal-Mogul Corp of Manitowoc. She enjoyed gardening, decorating the house & yard for all holidays; cooking for her family, spending time at their cottage, and camping with her family; but above all cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Shirley will forever be remembered as being a very proud, devout Catholic.

She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Doug Emond; her four children: Dennis Emond of Sheboygan, Scott Emond of Colorado, Cindy (Jim) Siebert of rural Manitowoc, and Michele (Jason) Hubbartt of Manitowoc; four cherished grandchildren: Douglas Siebert, Jonathan (Courtney) Siebert, Landon Hubbartt, and Lily Hubbartt. She is further survived by four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Lucille, Rosemary, and Therese Strauss; Sharon (Dan) O'Connor; Jim (Linda) Emond, and Wes (Judy) Emond; and their special little dog, Buddy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father & mother-in-law: Everett and Elsie Emond; three sisters: Rosalie Dragovich, Judith Schaller, Viola Hebert; and eight brothers: Harold, Wilbert, LeRoy, Francis, Sylvester, William, Ralph, and Robert Strauss.
