Dean Riley
BLODGETT, Mo. -- Rolley Dean Riley of Blodgett forged an 82-year-old trail of laughter, compassion and legacy before he passed away at his home Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.

The world lost a man who loved hunting, loved his friends and family more, and loved his wife (the late Doris Jane Riley) most of all. Every morning he would ride his bicycle to Blodgett Cemetery to have coffee with his late wife, just as he always had done.

The son of Rolly Roy Riley and Annie Laurie Oldham, he was born June 11, 1931, at Blodgett. He and Doris Jane Long were married July 12, 1954, in Booneville, Miss.

He was a member of New Savannah Baptist Church in Blodgett. He had worked as a truck driver for Swift Packing Co., Jim Evans Farms, Marshall Farms, and retired from Bula Heartland Potato Farms.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jeanette Riley of Blodgett; two sisters, Ruby Hurst of Blodgett, Earlene Foster of Benton, Mo.; six children, Debbie and Mike Glastetter of New Hamburg, Mo., Pamela and Larry Gates of Benton, Mike and Gail Riley and Don and Geri Riley of Blodgett, Jeff and Beverly Riley of Benton, Greg and Rhonda Riley of New Hamburg; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, Roy, Gale, Dale and Mavis Riley; a grandson, Joshua "Deke" Sparks; and an adopted son, Bob Strickland.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Blodgett Cemetery with full military honors.
