Miss Riley, 31 years old, was with a group of persons around a campfire on a sand bar of the Mississippi River south of Commerce Tuesday when the bolt of lightning struck about 9. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston.
She was born March 31, 1943, in Sikeston. She was an employe of the International Shoe Co. there.
Surviving is a daughter, Alana Jo Riley and her mother, Mrs. Annie Riley; sisters, Mrs. Earlene Foster and Mrs. Ruby Ann Hurst; brothers, Roy, Richard, Dean, Gale and Dale Riley; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Oldham.
