Nancy was born on May 4, 1949 in Janesville to Magdalen and Paul Schaitel. She graduated from St. Patrick’s grade school and Janesville Senior High School. She married Tom Burdick on December 28, 1968, and joined him during his 8 year tour of duty in the Navy. Upon returning to Wisconsin they lived in Manitowoc for seven years. In 1983 she moved with her family to Carol Stream, IL, and finally moved to Lake Summerset near Davis, IL, in 2003. Nancy worked outside the home most of her life including a 13 year career with Pitney Bowes and several years with Glenbard North High School.
Nancy is survived by her husband; her three daughters: Angela (Scott) Lamantia of West Chicago, IL, Michelle Mikrut of Las Vegas, NV, and Julie Burdick of Carol Steam, IL; four grandchildren: Mikala Mikrut, 6, Isabella Lamantia, 5, Kyle Burdick, 4, and Vincent Lamantia, 1; her mother, Janesville; six siblings: Jan (John) Roethe of Edgerton, Linda (Duane) Heim of Edgerton; Paul Schaitel of Afton, WI; Sandy (Glen) Bouton of Janesville, Carol (Al) Falk of Fort Wayne, IN, and Tom Schaitel of Janesville. Another sister, Karen Schaitel and her father predeceased her.
Nancy enjoyed reading and visiting with her children and grandchildren, sisters, and relatives much of the time. Through her church she worked for Habitat for Humanity fund raising, attended to the home bound as a Lay Minister, worked on Thanksgiving food drives, and many other charitable activities. Photo scrap booking was her favorite hobby. Nancy touched the lives of everyone she met with her beautiful smile, was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
