His marriage was to Sharon Elliott in Warren. Sharon passed away January 7, 2009.
Douglas served his country with the United States Army for four years and 20 years for the Army Reserves.
He was employed by the Utica School District and enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

His sister Cathy Nims preceded him in death.
