Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial is in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Landkamer’s Johnson-Boman Funeral Home and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Mr. Bartsch was born Nov. 29, 1925, to Adolph E. and Lillian (Jay) Bartsch in Lyra Township, Good Thunder. He married Emmy “Mia” Eicheart Feb. 14, 1960, in Germany. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, and fought during World War II in Leyte and Okinawa. He fought in the Korean War, and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, along with many other medals. After his retirement, he worked for the military in Germany as a civilian. He returned to the United States in 1994. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, dogs and fishing.
He is survived by his mother; six sisters, Ruth and her husband Orlando Olson of St. Clair, Margaret Deutsch, Eunice and her husband Egon Mutzke, and Mavis and her husband Wayne Anderson, all of Mankato, Norma and her husband Donald Strehl of Isanti, and Joan and her husbnd Steve Strehl of Janesville; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother.
