Born in Hellertown, James was a son of the late Calvin and Mary (Ernst) Kunsman. He served in the US Army during both WWII and the Korean Conflict, and later founded James Kunsman & Sons Roofing, Inc. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and of the American Legion.
Known as "Smiling Jim" for his humor and his smile, he enjoyed racing go-karts and snowmobiles, and had a great determination to succeed in all the things he did. He was a family man who was kind-hearted and loved by all who met him. He had the gift of generosity, and through his great faith in God he was a generous donor to his church. He was happy to see everyone who visited him, and he was a man who was thankful for all his blessings.
Survivors: sons Terry Kunsman and his wife Linda of Bethlehem, Brian Kunsman of Bethlehem; daughters Sylvia Hunsinger and her husband Henry of Bethlehem, Karen Parent and her husband Robert of Fairfax, VA; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by his sisters Helen Warner, Anna Yeael, Elsie Frickert, Dorothy Kale, and Flora Reiger; brothers Robert, Calvin, Paul, William and Edward Kunsman.
Services: Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, November 20, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3771 Easton Ave, Bethlehem, PA 18020. Friends may call from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday evening at the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, and also on Tuesday morning at church from 9 AM until time of services.
