Jay D. Stannard Dies at age of 73
Western, March 7 – Jay C. Stannard, life-long resident of this town passed away at his home Saturday, aged 73 years.
He was a son of Orlo and Elizabeth Bard Stannard and married Melvia G. Neaskern, March 10, 1880 at Western.
Mr. Stannard was a justice of the peace in Western for several years, and was a member of the M. E. Church at North Steuben. He was superintendent of the Sunday school and had been steward of North Steuben Grange.
Surviving with the widow ate these children: Mrs. Lena M. Teachout, Schenectady; Mrs. Elizabeth Kacfley, Westernville; Miss Anna C, Stannard, Western; Mrs. Clara Cavanaugh, Holland Patent; Mrs. Ada B. Body, Westernville; F. Kernan Stannard, Alder Creek, and W. Brian Stannard at home; three brothers, Willis, North Dakota; Elmer E. of the state of Washington, and Charles of Minnesota.

Funeral Rites Held for Jay C. Stannard
North Western, March 9 - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Griffin & Aldridge Funeral parlors, Rome, for the late Jay C. Stannard. The hour was postponed from 1 to 3:30 as the family was unable to get to Rome earlier on account of the storm.
Rev. George Pilbeam, pastor, of the M. E. Church, officiated and relatives acted as bearers. There were many floral pieces from relatives and friends. Burial will be made at North Steuben at the convenience of the family.
