Mickey Burns Hudspeth was called home by her heavenly Father April 15, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Mickey was born June 18, 1926 to Robert and Rosie (Turner) Bolin in Elkmont, Alabama. She attended school in Willie Springs and graduated from Ardmore High School in Ardmore, AL. After high school Mickey moved to Jackson Mississippi to work for General Electric. It was in Jackson that she met the love of her life Ralph Estes Burns. They were married in 1950 and had two children Ralph Jr. and Debra Ann. Mickey worked for the Clarion Ledger for a number of years until she retired.

After the untimely death of Ralph Sr. Mickey was blessed to be able to share the rest of her life with a kind and loving man, Willie Clyde Hudspeth. Mickey and Clyde were married in 1974 in Jackson and shared a home together in south Jackson until 2011 when illness and injuries required them to move to an assisted living facility. Mickey and Clyde enjoyed spending time together gardening and cooking. They also enjoyed traveling. They attended the annual Bolin family reunion in Alabama and took trips west to visit Clyde's daughter in Nebraska and Mickey's son in Colorado and Wyoming. Mickey loved writing and journaled daily. She also wrote poetry. Her writings are treasures for her family to enjoy for years to come.

Mickey was one of nine children; she had four sisters and four brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Rosie, sisters, Mildred Hatchett, Dorothy "Christine" Aultman and brothers, Gafton Bolin and Turner Bolin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Clyde (February 2014), daughter Debra Ann and step-son Richard.

She is survived by her sisters Macie Blankenship (Nashville, TN), Peggy Raper (Kilmichael, MS), and brothers Carl Dean Bolin (Brookwood, AL) and Kenneth Bolin (Saraland, AL). Mickey is also survived by her son Ralph (Lita) Burns (Coeur d'Alene, ID); step-daughter Barbara (Lane) Pitcher; three grandchildren Matthew and Marie Burns and Jessica Burrell (Ridgeland, MS); step-grandchildren Jeremy and Tyler Hudspeth (Clinton, MS), Molly Bussard and Sara Pitcher (Thornton, CO); four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey was grateful for the love and attention she received from her niece Lori Muirhead and step-daughter-in-law Nafie Hudspeth. They visited Mickey and Clyde regularly and made sure their every need was met. Mickey will be remembered by all as a kind, gentle and generous woman.

Visitation will be held Tuesday April 22, 2014, 11-1 PM. Funeral services are planned for 1 PM in the chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Boulevard with internment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
