Amy Prince Hoag, 83, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., and Dallas, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer Sunday, April 6, 2014, at a hospice in Dayton, Ohio. Burial: Amy will be interred at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in Skyvue Memorial Gardens in Mansfield, Texas. Amy was born in Booneville, Miss., on Feb. 28, 1931, and grew up with five brothers and a sister in Steele, Mo. She graduated in 1949 from Steele High School, where she was a varsity basketball and softball player, leading her basketball team to the regional championship and victories in two invitational tournaments in her senior year. Through the years, she visited many countries and lived in Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Alaska, New Mexico, Nebraska, Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Ohio. For over 20 years, Amy was active in charitable works through her efforts in Epsilon Sigma Alpha International and St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Grand Prairie. Amy was a devoted mother and grandmother, providing love and unending support to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in February 1994. Survivors: Brothers, Frank Prince of Southaven, Miss., and John Prince of Mansfield; children, Nancy Hoag of Dallas, Richard of Dayton Ohio, and Walter; and grandchildren, Amy Green of Houston, Thomas Hoag of Dallas and James Hoag of Idaho.
