Carol Leigh Carpenter, 78, Inverness, Fla., died April 24, 2014, in Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Amityville, N.Y., she was born Aug. 19, 1935, to the late Wilson and Grace (Oliver) Graham and came to this area in 1997 from Lake Grove, N.Y. She was employed as a clerk for the State of New York and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. She was the former volunteer coordinator for the Citrus Co. Sheriff's Dept, past treasurer of the Highland's Surveillance group and volunteer with the Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxillary.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Carpenter, Westbrook, Conn.; her brother, Edwin Graham and wife Helene, of Inverness; and two grandsons, Thomas Carpenter and Andrew Yermenson. She was preceded in death by her son, James Carpenter (Feb 1, 2008) and her sister, Ida Graham.
A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, from Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Beaverson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Hospice of Citrus County or the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch.
