Emma's older sister, Lena, married Clyde Trapp whose business partner was Earl Chandler. Earl and Emma were married by a Presbyterian minister in Waterville, Washington, on Christmas Eve 1913. The witnesses were Emma's father, John Sonney, and the minister's wife.
Earl and Emma had seven children: Ranald Perry 1914-1971 (Cecil Millhorn), Morris Earl 1915-1985 (Vi Leonhardt), Vera Ruth 1917-2005 (Bill Whyatt), Doris Irene 1919-1994 (Bud Berg), Fern Marian 1921-2007 (Jim Almquist), Howard Sonney 1922-2002 (Annamae Barber), and Ernest Edwin 1924-1986 (Lila Cozart).
Emma passed away at the Cowlitz Convalescent Center in Longview, Washington from a stroke on 14 Jun 1982. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Briggs, were held at the graveside on 18 Jun 1982. Emma was buried next to her husband, Earl, at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, Washington.
