Sturgis; Gertrude DREW, 84, of 307 N. Frank Ave., Sturgis, a secretary for the Kirsch Company of Sturgis for more than 20 years, died June 10, 1997, at Thurston Woods Village after an extended illness.
She was born Dec.1, 1912, in Carlise, Ky., a daughter of Jesse J. and Fannie (HENSLEY) OLDFIELD. She moved from White Pigeon to Sturgis four years ago.
On Feb. 23, 1960, she married Newman DREW, who died Jan. 18, 1983.
She was a member of the First presbyterian Church of White Pigeon, the Bridge Card Club of White Pigeon, and the White Pigeon Bowling Association. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida.
Surviving are three grandsons, George E., John W. and Lee ELLINGER, all of Middlebury, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two step-daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mary Louanne) MILLER of White Pigeon and Mrs. Dennis (Karen) KAMINSKI of Dayton, Ohio; one step-son, Jack DREW of Centreville; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Olema) HACKMAN and Mrs. Floyd (Marie) YODER, both of Sturgis; two brothers, Harold OLDFIELD of White Pigeon and Ray OLDFIELD of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one daughter, Margie M. CARTER.
Relatives and friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Farrand Funeral Home of White Pigeon, where services are at 1 p.m. (Mich. time) Friday with the Rev. Helen H. Collins of the First Presbyterian Church of White Pigeon officiating. Burial will be in the White Pigeon Township Cemetery, White Pigeon.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of White Pigeon. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
