Alberta was born December 30, 1933 to Henry and Ethel Little in Newark, New Jersey. Alberta was the youngest of 8 children. Alberta moved to Arizona and married J.Warren Bass in 1956. Alberta and Warren adopted 2 children, Bryan and Lorri.
Alberta lost her beloved husband in 1967 and moved her family to West Phoenix where she continued to live until her death. Alberta graduated from Grand Canyon College in 1973 with a Bachelors degree. Alberta worked for G.E. and as a teacher at St.Louis the King Catholic School before moving on to work at the Phoenix Urban League as a Job Counselor. Alberta returned to teaching at John R. Davis, South Mountain and finished her 22 year career as a beloved teacher at Trevor Brown High School.
After retirement, Alberta worked to help the less fortunate by making lunches and serving food to the homeless in her community. Alberta was an Officer of Sisters of the Valley and enjoyed her time with her sisters. Alberta was Mom, Aunt, Granny, Sister, Confidant and Friend who touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Alberta loved animals and would often go to the store for groceries and return with a stray she found that needed help. Alberta accomplished much in her 80 years but was most proud of her children, family, friends and her awesome Scrabble playing skills. Alberta was truly one of a kind and will be missed.
Alberta is survived by her son, Bryan J. Bass; daughter, Lorri R. Curry; granddaughter, Andrea N. McGee; grandson, Darrell D. Curry Jr.; great granddaughter, Aubree E. Mcgee; nephew, Ronald A. Little and brother, Norman Little.
