My precious "Jewel" was an Affenpincher and terrior mix.

She was just this little tiny thing and so cute. She had been hit by a car and was found in a field behind a known drug house. When we adopted her she weighed only 5lbs. Her spine showed, she was emaciated and she had a broken pelvis and hip.
She was in pretty bad shape.

She was adorable and we adopted her right away. And we decided right away, of course, to get her the surgery she needed.

Her name was Jewel! Jewel was a very different little girl in a few months after her surgery and with all the loving care we gave her she started to really shine. She was an absolute delight! She had the cutest personality and was our little caregiver. She wagged her tail if you just looked at her...She took excellent care of all of us. She was just wonderful in every way! I just can't say enough to describe this little angel...

She loved exploring our entire yard and on occasion would chase a bird or sometimes a stray cat out of the yard. Because of the surgery she had no use of her left back leg but still managed to fly across our yard to chase them. She never caught anything of course, she just liked the chase. She had a big heart!

I miss her every minute of every day. I love her and I always will...

Jewel was my best friend!

TREASURED FRIEND

I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.

She'll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favourite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.
