Merwin E Ness, 68, of Hinckley, formerly of Big Rock, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1989 at Copley memorial Hospital in Aurora.

He was born April 2, 1920 in Sheridan, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Johnson) Ness. He married Josephine Greenawalt on June 12, 1952 in Oswego.

He was a farmer and a member of the Hinckley United Methodist Church. He was a board member of the Kane County Livestock Feeders Association, the Kane County Farm Bureau, the Big Rock - Sugar Grove Park District and held various offices in the church.

He is survived by his wife Josephine of Hinckley; a son Ron (Julie) Ness, of Hinckley; a daughter, Cindy (Gary) Johnston, of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren; one brother, Joseph (Rita) Ness, of Hinckley; four sisters, Lucille (Mark) evans, of Hamilton, Mont.; Irene Avyers, of California, Betty Beck , of Hinckley, and Nell(Edward) Evans, of Big Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers, Francis, Howard and James, and by on Sister, Ruth Ann Dorian.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Hinckley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Kirk officiating. Burial will be in South Big Rock Cemetery in Big Rock.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley
