Shirley F. Helm, 87, Birnamwood, formerly of Tavares, FL, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Autumn Lane Family Care, Birnamwood,


She was born on August 3, 1926 in Eland, the daughter of the late William and Hannah Christine (Thone) Frank.

On June 14, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Jack D. Helm in Eland. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2002.Shirley was born and raised in Eland, WI. After marriage, the couple moved to Maple Plain, MN where Shirley worked as a secretary for an insurance salvage company. In their spare time, the couple enjoyed raising and showing champion boxers all over the United States. In 1984, they retired to Tavares, FL. Shirley has been a resident of Autumn Lane Family Care in Birnamwood for the last two and a half years. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, reading, lawn bowling and going out to restaurants.

Shirley is survived by her nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Paul Frank and four sisters, Lorraine Squires, Lois Pendergast, Ruth Frank and Ruby Lucille Ringstad.
