Boxer. Based in Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire he turned professional in 1983 and fought initially at bantamweight. He recorded four wins before stuttering slightly with a draw and defeat against Danny Flynn, the latter bout for the Scottish Area title. However after stepping up to featherweight his progress continued and in February 1985 he captured the Scottish title by knocking out John Sharkey in Glasgow in the second round. In April 1986 he defeated John Feeney to claim the British Featherweight title and then successfully defended his crown against Steve Sims and in a re-match with Feeney to win a Lonsdale Belt. After taking a break from the ring he gave up his titles to move up to Super Featherweight. After wins against Rocky Lawlor and Arvell Campbell he challenged the Indonesian boxer Hengky Gun for the WBC International Super-Featherweight title. In March 1988 Dickie won the contest by a technical knockout in the fifth round. However his reign was relatively short as in his next bout, just five months later, he was stopped in the sixth round by Kamel Bou-Ali of Tunisia to lose that title. He continued to fight on though and after three further victories he claimed the British Super Featherweight title in Cardiff by defeating Kevin Pritchard. His final two fights before retiring were defeats against Sugar Gibiliru and Phil Found. Career record: 28 fights, 22 wins (15 within the distance), 2 draws and 4 defeats.
