Son of Hans and Thrine (Gamst) Brox. Married Elina Hals in 1872.
In 1875, Jacob, Elina, and their young son, Albert, boarded the steamship "Tasso" at Trondheim, Norway and came to America. They made their home at Baldwin, WI where daughters, Dora and Amanda, were born. The Brox family then settled at Buffalo, ND until homesteading at Dazey in the mid 1880's.
Jacob and Elina had the following children together:
1. Albert Brox, the oldest son, was born at Kastneshamn, Norway on January 6, 1874. On December 9, 1914, he was married to Petra Anderson. Died Aug. 20, 1952.
2. Dora (Brox) Quick (January 4, 1878 - March 8, 1951) married William E. Quick in 1896.
3. Amanda (Brox) Lundgren (October 20, 1880 - July 7, 1962) married John Lundgren in 1901 and they made their home at his homestead near Tolley, ND. They raised 8 children.
4. Melvin Brox (1884-1900) died from diphtheria.
5. Thomas Brox (January 29, 1887 - November 2, 1947) married Dora Weber.
6. Inga (Brox) Martin (February 17, 1889) was married in 1911 to Nathaniel R. (John) Martin. Lived in Polson, MT.
Following Elina's death in 1906, Jacob traveled to Norway in 1908 and in 1909 he returned bringing with him Emma Berg and Petra Anderson. Jacob married Emma Berg that summer. Emma was born February 25, 1890 and was a niece of Jacob's first wife.
Jacob and Emma had two children together:
1. Bernhardt Emil Brox "Bernard" - born Mar. 23, 1910 in St. Paul, MN.
2. Evelyn (Brox) Henderson - born Feb. 19, 1913 in St. Paul, MN. Married Jack Henderson in 1931. Lived in Tacoma, WA.
Jacob passed away on November 25, 1930 at Gig Harbor, WA.
