Funeral services were held today for Johnnie Armstead, 71, of Indio. He died in Indio on Friday An Oklahoma native, he had lived in Indio for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Gussie Mae; a son, Harold Armstead of Stockton; and nine step-children, Algrada Walker, Louie L. Wilson, Eugene Wilson, Eva Wilson, Larry Wilson, Home Wilson and Annie Shepard, all of Indio; Havery Wilson of Las Vegas; and Dorothy Washington of Las Vegas, He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and two nieces. The 1 p.m. services were held at the Mt Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Indio. Burial took place in Coachella Valley Cemetery with Fitz Henry Funeral Home of Indio in charge of the arrangements.
