He was born July 24, 1923, to Edward and Grace (Hare) Baker, in Culver, Marshall County, Indiana and lived in Hibbard in his younger years. He passed away Oct. 17, 2012, Chandler, Arizona.
Norman is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Rubbie), one son, James (Deborah) Baker, Lawrenceville, Ga. and one daughter, Susan (Michael) Jay, Dallas, Texas; one sister, Marjorie Babker, Culver, five grandchildren - Peter Lanno, Cadance (Mike) White, Ashley, Erin, and Travis Jay; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and one stepsister - Harrison, Lyle, Katherine (Sheetz), Richard, Charles, Eugene, Russell Baker Reinoehl, Dorothy Mitchell and two sons - John (J.B.) and Richard Retzloff.
While living in Culver he owned and operated the Standard Oil Bulk Plant. He relocated to Scottsdale, Ariz., and retired from AiResearch in Phoenix. He was a much respected and trusted in his business life as he was in his personal life due to his extensive lifelong participation in public service organizations, role sponsoring and coaching youth sports. Always a sportsman, his golfing was legend.
Services with military rites were arranged by Green Acres Mortuary, Scottsdale, Ariz. A scattering of cremains will be done at a later date on the 18th hole of a favorite golf course.
