Marjorie "Termite" Baker passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on July 16. Born June 6, 1930, she was a lifelong resident of Culver.
Marge enjoyed living independently at her Culver home until 2018 when she moved to the Catherine Kasper Center. She loved being known by her childhood nickname of "Termite".
In her early years she was an Insurance agent with the State Exchange Insurance Agency.
She was a member of the Culver Girl's Softball Team and the Culver Bowling League. She enjoyed the camaraderie they provided. Travel was another passion. Marge traveled internationally as well as throughout the US. She kept active well into her 80's by bicycling around her beloved community. She found enjoyment spending time with friends, church and watching Notre Dame football. There was no such thing as a stranger in Marge's mind.
Half-siblings who preceded her in death are: Dorothy Mitchell, Daisy (née Mitchell) Cripe, Juanita Eileen (née Mitchell) Cushway Masters , Charles Baker, Norman Baker, Russell Baker Reinoehl [Russell must have been an infant child of Grace Idella née Hare Baker who died in April 1925 when Russell was just a few months old], Eugene K. Baker; as well as step-siblings Harrison Earl Baker, Lyle Arthur Baker, Katherine E Baker Sheetz and Richard Edward Baker.
Pekingese dogs held a special place in her heart. They were her loving companions for many years. To honor her we suggest contributions be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, your local church or the Dorothy I Mitchell scholarship fund.
Services held at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver at 1 p.m. on July 27. Final arrangements entrusted to Odom Funeral Home in Culver with burial at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
