Gene Lee Robbins

Gene Lee Robbins, 74, Seymour, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at home, with his family by his side.

Mr. Robbins was a long-distance truck driver for 37 years. He also farmed for many years.

He loved playing golf with his twin sister, Joan, and in his free time while in Texas.

He enjoyed watching his grandson run track and cross country for both Brownstown Central High School and Vincennes University.

He also kept up with Brownstown basketball either by watching or listening to the games.

He enjoyed tractor pulling as well as watching football, basketball and golf on TV.

He enjoyed discussions with friend and German foreign exchange student, Sam Zeyse.

Born Oct. 12, 1936, in Frankfort, he was the son of Roy and Bessie Meyers Robbins, both of whom preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Barb (Dan) Leffler and Linda Denby; grandchildren, Jarred Leffler and Conner, Makalaya and Cameron Cockerham; twin sister, Joan Latham; sister, Alice Locke; brothers, Jim (Wanda) Robbins and George (Vera) Robbins; and many nieces and nephews.

Brother Larry Carmichael will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be private for the family with a Voss dove release.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center.
