Floyd was born on June 12, 1941, in Gunnison, Miss., to Jesse and Ethel (Cooper) Taylor.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Gloria Taylor; one son, Christopher Shelby; two daughters, Felicia (James) Alexander and E. Annette (Willie) Coleman, all of Peoria; two brothers, the Rev. James Taylor and Charles Taylor, both of Peoria; and two stepsons, Andre and Darnell Hunter, both of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd, a Manual High School graduate, was inducted into the Grand View College Sports Hall of Fame in Des Moines, Iowa. He played basketball there for two years and was inducted for the years 1961 to 1963.
Floyd retired from Ameren CILCO as store keeper in 2005 after 34 years of service.
Floyd will be laid to rest in Springdale Cemetery.
