A Venerable Mason Dead
Mr. J.W. Parish - "Uncle John," as he was generally called--passed away Sunday night, aged seventy-nine years. He was one of the oldest Masons in Cedartown, and during the closing months of his life had the unremitting care of his brethren of Caledonia Lodge. Mr. Parish was born at McDonough and came to Cedartown in 1870, working at his trade as a shoemaker. He was a reliable workman and was honest and upright in all his dealings. As a member of the 1st Georgia Cavalry, he rendered faithful service during the war. He is survived by two sons, Messrs. James and Wiley Parish.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the cemetery by his Masonic brethren.
