Sara E. (Ash) Rex, 81, of Berwick died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Sept. 15, 1932, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Grassley) Ash.

Mrs. Rex was a graduate of Berwick High School. She had worked as a waitress for many years in the Berwick area. She was a longtime employee of the former Zephyr Diner until it closed; the former Bennett's Restaurant, the former Roman Pub, and the former Holiday Pancake House, all of Berwick.

She was a member of the Berwick Assembly of God Church. She was also a member of the Berwick Senior Circle.

Surviving are her husband, Alvin C. Rex; three children: Keith E. Lowe Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Chesapeake, Va.; Ricky D. Lowe of Dunmore; Deborah A. Ross and her husband, David, of Charlotte, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Edward Ash of Berwick; Jane Miller and her husband, Richard, of York; Lottie Ann Clark of Nescopeck; Raymond S. Ash Jr., and his wife, Agnes, of Nescopeck; numerous nieces and nephews and a stepson, Scott Rex, and his wife, Kathryn, of Berwick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Ash.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Berwick Assembly of God Church, 801 E. Fifth St., Berwick, with the Rev. Stephen C. Potutschnig, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Summerhill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the McMichael-Rairigh and Baker Funeral Home Inc., 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick.
