Mattie Brown Braxton, 91, of Farmville passed away on June 6, 2014 at Vidant Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1923, in Greene County, North Carolina, to Annie Lee Hagan and Daniel Webster Braxton. She graduated from Maury High School where she played on the girls baseball team. Mattie married Horace Moore in October 11, 1946 at Grimsley FWB Church after he returned from the war in the Pacific. She enjoyed watching baseball on TV and spending time with her family. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace , who died April 08, 1997: five sisters and one brother. Mattie and her family attended Marlboro Church for many years. Surviving are her two daughters, Judy M. Butler and husband Jeffrey Butler, and Jeanne Moore. Funeral Services were held at Marlboro Free Will Baptist Church and interment at Hollywood Cemetery Farmville, NC. Graveside benediction was given by Rev. Ronnie Mohn and Rev. Kevin Jackson.
