Harold Pomfret, age 89 passed away Monday August 26, 2002 At home. He was a resident of Kingston for 50 years.
He was born April 28, 1913 in Providence, RI. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Harriman.
He owned and operated Kingston Plumbing and Heating, Installing the first sewer lines in Kingston. He installed the water and sewer lines on Kentucky Street when it was widened to four lanes.
He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union for 50 years and was retired from the Union Carbide Y12 Plant in 1978.
He was preceded in death by Parents William and Sarah Pomfret, Sons Raymond, and H. William (Bill) Pomfret; grandsons, Robert J. Pomfret, Jr. and WM Pomfret, II. Twin granddaughters Kimberly and Karen Pomfret. Sisters Evelyn Benson, Alice Perry and Helen Bittenger. Brothers Arthur and Edward Pomfret.
His wife of 67 years, Virginia Schofield Pomfret; daughter and son-n-law Joy and Dennis Boggs of Bartlesville, OK; sons and daughters-in-law Bob and Janis Pomfret of Knoxville and Dan and Renea Pomfret of Marble Hill GA. Sammie Pomfret of Marryville, TN; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3great-great-grandchildren; Sister-in-law Dorothy Ferelli and husband Ernest, Blanche Greenless; brothers-in-law Dr. Charles Schofield and wife Joyce, Raymond Schofield and many nieces and nephews.
Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2002 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman with Father Michael Sweeney Officiating. Entombment in Roane Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston. Donations may be made to the Kingston Lions Club, P.O. Box 69, Kingston, TN 37763 or the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 535 Margrave Dr. Harriman, TN 37748.
