"Abner Chichester, one of West Hills' highly respected residents, passed away early this morning, after having been in failing health for some time. Mr. Chichester was born July 9, 1849, at West Hills, in the same house in which he died, he having been the third generation to have been born in the old "Peace and Plenty Inn", where the Chichesters resided. His parents were John Chichester & Susan E. Smith. He always followed the occupation of a farmer. January 26, 1870, he married Miss Sarah Towne, of Plainview. Besides the widow, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Jarvis, who resides home, and son, Irving E. Chichester, of Huntington Station. One sister also survives, Mrs. C. Edwin Van Sise, of Huntington. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the home, and the burial will be in the West Hills Cemetery".
