Accidental Discharge of a Gun Causes Death of Thomas Shepherd East of Town.
While hunting rabbits with some playmates, Saturday morning, Thomas Shepherd, 12-year-old son of Andrew Shepherd, a farmer living eight miles east of town, was accidentally shot in the back, receiving injuries from which he died a few minutes later.
Young Shepherd was with a party of boys who had been shooting rabbits. One rabbit had been shot, but apparently not killed, and one of the party got a shotgun with the intention of finishing the job. The weapon was accidentally discharged, the shot entering the back of young Shepherd and causing his death a little later.
The funeral was conducted yesterday afternoon. Interment at McCree Cemetary.
