John Alfred Reaves
September 19, 2013 age 92, died at a local hospital on September 19, 2013. He was born in Birmingham on September 10, 1921 to Milton E. and Harriett Reaves. John is survived by his loving wife, Edna Campbell Reaves, and will be missed greatly by his recently adopted cat, G.T. John willed his body to UAB Anatomical Department for medical research and requested no memorial services. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. After graduating from Auburn University in Pharmacy, he opened his own drug store known as "John's Drugs" in Anniston. After his move to Birmingham, John became a skillful calligrapher and loved to share this talent with others by teaching classes at local colleges. John had a great love for youth and thus enjoyed his active membership in the Birmingham Optimist Club and exhibited their motto "Friend of Youth." He and his wife made many friends at the fitness club of Lakeshore Foundation.
