Emma Cunico Allen, 89, widow of Howard Henry Allen of Monroeton, Pa., passed away Monday evening, June 16, 2014 at the Schmeckenbecher Personal Care Home in Towanda Township, Pa. Emma was born in Raton, N.M. on Nov. 7, 1924, the daughter of Christopher and Antonio Basso Cunico. She was a graduate of Raton High School class of 1943 and in early years was employed as a telephone operator in Raton. Following her marriage to Howard Henry Allen in 1945, the couple made their home in the Monroeton area. Emma was employed by several garment manufacturing businesses and later assisted her husband in the operation of Allens Refuse Company and Allens Tavern in Monroeton. Emma enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and playing bingo. Surviving are her son, Dennis "Smokey" Allen of Monroeton; daughter, Paula Bahr and Frank Heath of Monroeton; grandchildren, Christopher Allen and wife Ann, Nicole Allen Baumbaugh and husband Charles, Derrick Allen, Anthony "Tony" Bahr and wife Heather and Natasha Allen; great-grandchildren, Seth Allen, Jessica Vandergrift, Abigail Allen, Madison Allen, Presley Fee, Dylan Bahr, Jamison Bahr and Charles Baumbaugh; sisters-in-law, Gladys Derr of Durell, Betty Dieffenbach of the Page Manor, Athens, Elsie Bailey of Durell, Donna Morningstar of Monroeton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beatrice Stranger and Donald Stranger of Franklindale; brother-in-law, Rex Allen Jr. of Williamsport, Pa.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Henry Allen on Aug. 24, 2003; daughter-in-law, Laura Allen; and by several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
