Mr. Hall died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center, where he had been a resident for one week.
Lyle was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Oronoco township, Olmsted County, to Arthur and Beatrice(Mull) Hall. He grew up on the family farm in rural Oronoco Township, attended country school and graduated from Rochester High School. He enlisted in the U.S.Army in 1947 and served over seas, including duty in Japan. At the time of his discharge in 1950, he had earned the rank of sergeant and was stationed in Kansas. Lyle was married in 1950 to Bonnie Sleichter in Kansas. Following their marriage the couple lived in Topeka, Kan., for many years and raised their family. They were later divorced. Lyle was employed for 34 years at Montgomery Wards in Topeka, and was a sales manager when he retired.
He moved to Brainerd where he met Fayne Turnow, and they were married in 1995. They moved to Texas where they lived for a number of years before returning to the Brainerd area.
Fayne Hall died on June 8, 2012. Lyle moved to Stewartville in 2013. He was married on July 14, 2013, in Stewartville to Ethel M. Gehrking.
He was preceded in death by his son, Warren, his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Hall and an infant sister, Edna, two brothers, Arthur and Fred Hall and two stepsons, Donald and Clifford Turnow.
A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Veteran's Cemetery in Preston, which is currently under construction.
