Augusta Bartz Behrens was born in Germany, the daughter of Gottleib Bartz and Pauline Reich Bartz. Her family came to Texas from Germany and she was married to Andreas Behrens, in Lee County, on July 5, 1889. The family had arrived San Saba County by 1900 and Andreas established a ranching operation in the Wallace Creek area. The ranch is where the children grew up.

Augusta Behrens was the second wife of her husband and his children by the first marriage were also members of this large family. Known children of Andreas and Augusta Behrens were; Wilhelm (Willie), Wesley, Bertha Adele, Alvin Theodore, Arthur Andreas (Otto), Antoinette (Toney), Laura Annie, Louis Avolt, Andrew Conrad, Cora, Reuben Thomas (Tom), Luceal Augusta, Leonda Elizabeth, and Mac Wiley Behrens.

After the death of her husband in 1940, Augusta moved into the town of San Saba and lived here until her death in 1948.

(NOTE: Andreas Behrens is also seen as Andrew and that is the name on his marker.)
