Emma Rettie (Goans) Layman, daughter of Albert and Mary (Manning) Goans, was born July 25, 1903 near Lebanon, Missouri, and departed this life December 5, 1993, in the Lebanon Care Center at the age of ninety years, four months and nine days.
On August 1, 1925, she was united in marriage with Rayma Ellis Layman, who preceded her in death on November 1, 1948. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Lydia, Eva, Ruth and Laura and one brother, Howard.
Emma was a member of the White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She lived her entire life in the White Oak Pond community and the Lebanon area.
Those surviving include her daughter, Alice (Bill) Scheets of Lebanon; one brother, Don Goans of Lebanon; one granddaughter, Janice Black; one grandson, Billy Chad Scheets and one great-granddaughter, Emilea Wakefield, all of Bismark, Missouri; as well as other relatives and friends.
She enjoyed working in the garden and especially enjoyed working with her flowers and fruit trees.
