He farmed with his family for many years in both Santa Maria and Monterey County. After he retired from farming, he worked for CalTrans for 15 years prior to his retirement. His love for farming continued throughout his life, raising vegetable gardens year after year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, William, Manuel, Henry and Edward Nunes; sisters Rose Nunes, Mary Cheadle, and Isabelle Miracle.
He is survived by brother Leo Nunes of Antioch, IL and Paulina Schauman of Salinas; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregiver Malia.
Visitation will be held 1:00-5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Struve and LaPorte Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
