Wreck Victim Dies of Injuries

Joseph Glaser 14th "56 County Fatality


The 14th traffic fatality in Manitowoc County this year is Joseph Glaser, 60, of Rt. 1, Two Rivers, who died early Friday morning at Municipal Hospital here of injuries sustained in an accident Saturday. County Coroner Theodore Teitgen said he will conduct an inquest.


The accident occurred at 12:49 p.m. Aug. 11 on Highway 42, a mile and a half north of Two Rivers, when a car driven by Albert J. Van Der Wettering, 45, of Rt. 1 Mishicot, struck Glaser's auto. Van Der Wettering, who was attempting to make a left hand turn, said he did not see Glaser's car until it was 25 or 30 feet away.


Glaser was taken by ambulance to the Two Rivers hospital to be treated for ___ ___ ___ fractured ribs. Van Der Wettering escaped with a cut on the inside of his nose.


An employe of the Hamilton Mfg. Co., since 19?2, Mr. Glaser was born at Luxemburg Oct. 16, 1895, son of Joseph and Anna Schetz Glaser. On June 26, 1923, he married Miss Eleanor Daul at Kewaunee and the couple lived there until 1929, moving to Two Creeks. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars here.


Surviving him are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Leonard Mastroni of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Eugene LeClair of Rt. 1, Mishicot, and Betty and Jaenie at home; nine sons, Harvey, LeRoy, Gerald, Joseph Jr. Clarence, Allan, Lawrence and Robert of the city and Edward with the United States Army in Europe; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Krielkramp and Mrs. Clarence Hruska of Luxemburg; three brothers, George and Nicolas of Luxemburg and Carl of Green Bay; two step-brothers, four step-sisters, and eight grandchildren.


Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church. The Rev. John K. Mueller will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.


Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
