Louis Miles was a minister of the Western North Carolina United Methodist Church. He was the son of Thomas and Blanche Miles
In 1957 graduated from the Boston University School of Theology with a degree Bachelor of Sacred Theology. While in seminary he was admitted on trial and ordained deacon in the West Virginia Conference in 1955. After a short ministry in Oregon he returned to Boston University to work on a Master of sacred Theology degree in 1962. In 1960 he heard of a small Methodist College in the North Carolina Mountains by the name of Brevard. He applied and was hired to teach religion and history. In 1962 he became a member of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was a beloved teacher at Brevard College from 1960 to 1973. After leaving Brevard he moved to Warren-Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina. He remained there until his retirment in 1994. In 1979 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.
