E. Faye McMannis, 81, passed away at South Wind Hospice, Pratt KS.
on Friday, June 27, 2014.
Faye was born on the family farmstead just north of Byers Kansas on September 11, 1932, the daughter of Alva & Lydia (Swafford) Cox, she was the youngest of 7 children. On March 25, 1951, Faye married her high school sweetheart Lawrence Robert (Bob) McMannis. They made their home in the Iuka farming community where she was a devoted wife, homemaker and loving mother of three children. Grandchildren were the highlight of her life, and she was known to her nieces and nephews as the family member they could count on to answer their genealogy questions.
After Bob's passing in 1977, Faye worked at the Pratt County Tag office for 5 years, moving on to work at Pratt Regional Medical Center until retirement, then serving as a PRMC volunteer. As a member of the Iuka Methodist Church, she belonged to the Hope Circle, and was at one time the church secretary. Her love of singing kept her active as a vocalist for Sunday and Memorial Day services. Faye enjoyed being a member of Mother's club, EHU, and serving as a 4-H leader. She also volunteered at the blood mobile unit and on the Byers election site.
Faye is survived by her three children Roger (Dianna) McMannis of Big Piney, WY, Helen (Chuck) Holcomb of Cunningham, KS, and Linda (Bret) Weingart of Oklahoma City, OK. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, and her siblings Millard Cox, Clifford Cox, Inez Kendall, Luella Tanner, Kathleen Smith and Lucille Lewis.
Visitation will be 1:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, KS 67124 where family will receive friends, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Iuka Methodist Church, with John Hamm presiding.
Burial at Iuka Cemetery following service.
