Joseph Sabatini, 92, a resident of San Diego, passed away June 23, 2014 at Oswego Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Barbara (Sincavage) Sabatini.

Born in San Diego, he was the son of the late Dominic and Elvira (LaGalla) Sabatini. He attended and graduated San Diego schools. During WII he worked on B24 planes at the Convair Aircraft Factory in San Diego. He was a commercial Tuna Fisherman in the South Pacific for several years. The manner in which the fishing was done is depicted in the Tunaman's Memorial sculpture on Shelter Island, San Diego.

Joe and his family owned and operated an Italian restaurant in Point Loma. His final venture was a liquor store in Point Loma. After his retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed traveling and cruising, visiting all the continents except Antarctica. They spent all of their summers in Oswego, NY. He was a life member of the San Diego Elks 168.

Surviving besides his wife, Barbara, are one son, Dominic Sabatini of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren; sister- in-law Amy Davis of St. Augustine, FL and Oswego; brothers-in-law William (Sharon) Sincavage of Oswego, John (Kathy) Sincavage of St. Augustine, FL, and Al Wright of San Diego; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife Alexandra; three brothers, Peter, Louie, and Pedro Sabatini; twin sisters, Caroline Wright and Elizabeth Caboz.

Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 30th, in the chapel of Holy Cross Mausoleum, San Diego. Entombment to follow in Holy Cross Mausoleum, San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Diego Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at Nelson Funeral Home obituary
