Jewel was the daughter of Frank O. and Bessie Owens Parker and the wife of Martin M. (Buster) Galloway. Jewell earned a teaching degree at Normal (Northwestern College) in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and taught at Simpson High School for several years before her marriage. She was much loved by all who knew her. A beautiful young woman well liked by all, she died following an appendectomy operation.
