At age 18, Dorothy moved to Milwaukee, where she met and married Steven Olah in June 1949. Their marriage was blessed with four children. She then married Jack Patin in August 1974.
Following her retirement as a child-care provider, Dorothy moved to Portage to be closer to family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her cat, Jack.
Survivors include three children, Barbara (Hal) Rhone of Texas, Gary (Jody) Olah of Deerfield and Susan Schmeling of Sullivan; five grandchildren, Jason and Matthew Rhone, Cody Olah, and Rachel and Jonathan Olah; one great-grandson, Corbin Rhone; one sister, Betty Weber of Montello; one brother, Donald (Nancy) Berg of Van Dyne; brother-in-law, Kenneth Rausch of Big Bend; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewalt Berg and Evelyn Tagatz; son, Darryle Olah; husband, Jack Patin; grandson, Christopher Scott Rhone; granddaughter, Sarah Beth Olah; son-in-law, James Schmeling; sister, Ethel Rausch; and brother-in-law, Clayton Weber.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Big Mecan, W1568 Evergreen Ave., Montello, with the Rev. Peter D. Zietlow officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church. Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Westfield, is serving the family.
