Leona was born Nov. 19, 1924, at Hague, to Anton and Katherine (Jung) Senger. She was raised and educated in Emmons County. She married Ted Werlinger. They lived on a farm and had six children. He died in 1971. On September 26, 1980, she married Val Vetter and they lived in Bismarck. Val died in 1991. Leona remained in her home until her death. She enjoyed dancing and listening to old-time music, but her favorite pastime was sewing.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty (Dan) Weigand, Bismarck; five sons, Jerome (Helen), Bismarck, Francis (Sheila) Zeeland, Richard (Helen), Las Vegas, Nev., Robert (Helen), Bismarck, and Jerry (Shirley), Foley, Minn.; three sisters, Irene Wagner, Bismarck, Alice Schaffer, Bismarck, and Barbara (Jack) Glatt, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; two brothers, Jerome Senger, Strasburg, and Paul (Helen) Senger, Bismarck; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two brothers, Joe and Aloyus.
