Cenotaph.
Grand Master of the Order of Teutonic Knights. He succeeded his brother, Konrad von Jungingen, in the position, serving from 1407 to 1410. His death on the battlefield at Tannenberg/Grünwald and the subsequent loss of this battle spelled the beginning of the end of the Order's influence. (The battle is famously depicted in the painting at right by Jan Matejko.) The place of his burial is disputed. Some sources say he was buried at Malbork Castle, as was his brother.
