Charles Emil Schmidt, Sr., 87, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Klondike Manor Health Care. Born on June 29. 1919 in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church, St. Ann's Confraternity, a retired meat cutter with 25 years service at Roppel's Meat Market and a sheet metal worker with 13 years service at Triangle Sheet Metal.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gladys Thomas Schmidt; two daughters, Gloria Jean Schmidt and Janet Lynn Kustes.

He is survived by three sons, a daughter, 13 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006, at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5 9 p.m. Wednesday and 4 9 p.m. Thursday a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday.
