Obituary: Edith Harrison Lackner passed away in her home on February 19, 2003.
Born in Del Rio, Val Verde Co., Texas in 1919, she was the youngest of seven sisters and brothers. She graduated Valedictorian from her high school class at age 16. She then went on to Incarnate Word College in San Antonio where she graduated in 1938, in three years. After graduation she accepted a job in Brownsville, teaching at El Jardin Heights when she met and married her husband, Robert Amer Lackner in 1939. Edith was active in forming the first Junior Service League, the first Cotillion and many charitable organizations in Brownsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years in 1989.
Edith is survived by her children, Pamela Lackner Burton married to Byron, Robert Harrison Lackner married to RoseMary, Carolyn Lackner Baird married to James; grandchildren, Robert Edward Lackner, Mark Richard Lackner, Lisa Marie Lackner, Shannon Marie Ostos, Robert Lee Ostos and J. Byron Burton III.
Pallbearers will be Robert E. Lackner, Mark Lackner, Lee Ostos, Trace Burton, Byron Burton and Jim Baird.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today, Friday, February 21, 2003 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home and Mass at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, February 22, 2003.
Grave Location: Buena Vista Burial Park, Brownsville, Texas. Masonic Section, Lot 10, Grave 4.
