Mrs. Lilyphine Boyett Cason, 83 of Patterson, passed away Friday afternoon, May 1, 2020, at her residence.


Born in Patterson, GA on January 26, 1937, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. Mrs. Cason was retired from the Pierce County Board of Education where she had worked in the Patterson Elementary School lunchroom. She loved her job and enjoyed serving the children daily. Mrs. Cason was also a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she had been in the choir until her health began to fail. She was also a member of the Harmony Sunday school class and had helped with Pleasant Hill's "Spread the Joy" card service. Mrs. Cason had been a loving wife to her late husband, Everett Lawton Cason, and helped take care of him when his health began to fail until his passing. She was always there for anyone in need and never wanted recognition for her deeds. Mrs. Cason loved Jesus and read her Bible faithfully and could make the best egg custard pies. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend and her presence will be forever missed.


She was a daughter of the late Harley P. & Arlie Warren Boyett. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lawton Cason; all three of her sisters, Edna Cason, Thedius Cason, and Warnell Thornton; and by a her brother, Calvin Boyett.


Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Stevie Sweat and Melisa & Jesse Williamson all of Patterson; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Vanessa Cason of Offerman; 8 grandchildren, Brad Sweat, Jeromy (Nicole) Sweat, Goldie Sweat, Shannon Griffin, Jonathon Cason, Adrian O'Berry, Jessica Herrin, and Lindsey Braddy; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.


Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private graveside service for Mrs. Cason on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at the Mill Creek Cemetery.


Mrs. Cason will be taken to her residence on Saturday afternoon and will remain there until time for the graveside service on Sunday afternoon. The family will be receiving friends there if anyone feels comfortable enough to stop by.

The family would like to say a special "thank you" to Hospice Satilla and the nurses who helped take care of Mrs. Cason for all of the love and care not only shown to her but to her family. You all are appreciated more than you will ever know.
