Originally the surname Bifoss was Gibes. My Gibes family came from Jadowniki Mokre, Krakow, Poland (Galicia, Austria).. Jadowniki Mokre is in the section known as "Galicia" that was seized by Austria in 1772.

Andrew has a brother Joseph Gibes

Andrew's parents are Mathias Hyacintus and Agatha (Nosal) Gibes. They stayed in Poland and never came to the US. Both died in 1894.

He married Sophia Andrea Mavej 7 Nov 1877 in Jadowniki Mokre, Krakow, Poland (Galicia, Austria)
